Excellent, and sorry you also went through this...

I can remember a long time ago when we were having strikes over here that were affecting our power supplies and while it was a nuisance for business and to stay warm and things, I loved the quiet times.

for me this is all about what I am doing with chickens, growing a garden for the fist time and really thinking that I am tired of the politics and the mainstream. I want a quiet life, with as little outside control as possible.

I love this planet we live on, I am not a scientist, and I don't know the truth of global warming, but I suspect that if it is real then it is already too late.

but I am very much in favour of unity all around the globe, learning about each other and sharing thoughts and knowledge. Not high powered political unity, but real people working together and supporting each other. A lot of the things that in some places we have lost in the"Modern world"

I have learned so much from the people I have met here, and I have loved my chickens, that I bought for economic reasons, and now they are true pets that I find fascinating.

Lisa I will do it to spend some time Meditating on the great friendships that have grown from a common drive to keep chickens. lol...

Thank you.

thank you to all the positive replies

I'm actually hoping that enough people do this in my area so I can see the stars like I used to. Anyone else miss the stars? Here we have stadium lights left on all the time, car dealerships with huge spotlights, big box stores that never go dark, fast food restaurants fully lit when fully closed; it goes on and on. So turn off your lights and go outside.

We will do it!!! I also want to see the stars. Although I live in a urban area I look forward to akl the nieghbors doing it. When I was a kid in GA, near West Point. My great grand parent grandparents and mom and dad would sit on the porch near the peacan tree and shell peas or what ever.
The neighbors would all walk by and visit or wave.

Ok I dreaming but I will still participate to honor my long gone great grand and grandparents.

it would be awesome to see the stars. We are kinda rural here but our neighborhood leaves lots of lights on and the equestrian center across the road has a bright light on the road that's always on. True darkness would be awesome!

To Mahonri - I can't tell if you're being serious, but everyone else is, and the moderator asked for the mocking to stop, so please remain positive or go pick on someone else.

I love earth hour and I'm glad people participate, its really a great thing, Jena and Lisa, you have some great points of view on it.

Unfortunatly my dad 'needs' his television, lights, etc etc, so I can't fully take part, but will be turning everything off that I can.
