Haha! I'm kinda forced to participate since we don't have power. We had a tornado come through about 3 miles from here and they are saying power won't be on until morning. Excellent... especially since I have an incubator full of eggs.

I had every intention of turning all the light off and enjoying a nice spring evening But..... Instead all heck broke out and I think I joined you and Pheonix. I pretty sure the kids had every light on and the fridge door open.

...was planning to play piano by candlelight, but instead, DSO and his son came over. DSO BBQ'd by flashlight, said it wasn't cheating.

watched them build a little fire in the chiminea, and watched the stars.

It's not about saving a bunch of electricity. It's about peeling ourselves away from our electric/electronic toys, and talking and remembering that there is a bugs and grass world. Our chickens get it. Now it's our turn.

It was a nice wind down for a very hectic day,

I will certainly be doing this again. Thankfully it was my quieter son that called by, if it had been the younger one I don't think I would have noticed apart from the dark. He is noisy and would not cope with the quiet, he would double his efforts to be noticed.

But the elder one also enjoyed the peace and has said if we do it again he will bring his accoustic guitar.... now that would be almost as nice as piano by candle light.

Orp, you are right and it is a nice thing to take time out and listen to the world. You feel connected.
