Yes, you heard it right. My beautiful, smart, wonderful 18 yr old daughter is none other than Jaclyn Paige Skinner, Lady-In-Waiting of the 2008 East Texas Yamboree in Gilmer, TX. We are going over there today and will stay through Sunday. I'm so proud of her. I will post pics when I get back. She will also be showing her rabbits.

Anybody else going to the Yamboree in Gilmer, TX this weekend?

Gilmer is in East Texas. North of Tyler, west of Longview. Yes, they show broilers there, I don't think much else. Yes, there will be tons of yams there. Yam pie contest, decorated yam contest, anything yam is there. Lots of fun. Parades on Friday and Saturday morning, that my beautiful daughter will be in, pageant on Wed and Thurs night, ball on Thurs night, barn dance on Sat. night, YEEHAW, this is gonna be fun.

Wow, that's a ways from me. My dad lives west of Palestine, and that takes 2 1/2 hrs for me to get there. I'd love to go, though, it sounds fun.
Congrats to your daughter!

The Yamboree was great. The pageant was beautiful and of course, my daughter was the most poised and beautiful. Here are some pics of the events of the weekend. She showed her rabbits and got 33rd, she was hoping for better, but she had a LOT going on. She did place 7th for her shop project. Her and the queen, Stephanie, made a really nice chair and table set accented with stars.

more to come.......................

They sold the table and chairs for $500. The people really come out to support these kids that make shop projects. One little guy got $4,100 bucks for his pig. The big banks and companies come out to support local 4H and FFA. It was great.
