So, my daughter picked me up 6 little babies from Rural King 10 weeks ago. All supposedly female. Of the 6, one was smaller so I thought maybe the others were a few days older. It was much slower getting it's feathers at a slower pace even when it did start. It was always jumping in the others faces like it owned the place. As I watched it grow I noticed it looks completely different than the other 5. They all pretty much look about the same with just a tiny bit of color variance but this little one looks like the odd "man" out and yes, that is what I am suspecting. That I may have myself a little cockerel. I would be fine with that.

So many things make me think it's a cockerel but I want some opinions. I read where red spots on the wings IS a roo. Is that always true or maybe the norm? Or can a pullet have those red spots too? All the others have some straight out tail feathers, this one doesn't but again, it has been slower getting it's feathers so I don't know if they are still to come? LOL

Back in the summer I came on here looking in my area for a young EE roo with a couple hens to add to my flock. I can find single roo's but I didn't want to add a single bird to my ladies and cause issues. I haven't had a roo in years but wanted to try again.

So alas, this wasn't planned. It just happened so that makes me happy that this one is growing up along with his flock and will take his place.

I had named this one Fancy because "she" was so different and so pretty but as we watched it grow something clicked and I am thinking I better change this ones name.

My flock has been refreshed, I love EE's so now I have 3 beautiful healthy 7 month old EE's that are keeping me overflowing in eggs. 3 nice 12 week old Calico Princesses (thrown in there because I couldn't find any EE's) and then my daughter found these 6 EE's that are now 10 week old .

Mr Fancy Pants will have a nice little life if he doesn't turn out to be mean. :D:celebrate:lau
