Hello bird friends. I got 6 chicks and brought them home on January 28th, so they’re about 6 weeks now. I’m hoping for help on sexing, though I know it’s early, a couple of these “ladies” are showing signs they’re not ladies after all. These came from a farmer/breeder an hour drive from here. To the best of her knowledge these were all female. Potential parents (based on what she has dancing around with each other) are Ameraucana, Silkie, Cream Legbar, Americana Splash, Light Brahma, Black Copper Maran, and Buckeyes. I am new enough to not know better, but have some recognition in my research of the strains here.

I’m more than happy to take more/better photos.

Thanks for your guidance. Of course, nature will reveal itself eventually, but if I can rehome the roosters getting an earlier start, more the better.

Joe

My suspicions as well. Thanks so much. 4 has been a suspect for some time. 5 was my first suspect and 6 is a recent potential. The combs on 5 and 6 are definitely getting pink.

Update and another look if anyone has a moment:

#5 from above is 49 days older, but I’m surprised I’m not seeing more of a comb. It’s an odd straight comb for an Easter Egger. While the comb itself isn’t all that red, it’s wattles have a hint of read, but aren’t all that large either. He was born the same time as the rest and hasn’t sized up like the other two cockerels. Those guys are deeefinitely showing their red and floppy pea combs. #4 is the only crower at this point.

What say you? Cockerel or not so sure? Thank you!

Definitely a pullet. No doubt whatsoever with this one.

I say yes to no. 4, maybe to no. 5, and don't think so to no. 6. Time will tell.
