In October, our NH_Reds decided that our pine trees were a very nice place to spend the afternoon.........

Conveniently, this is also by the compost heap....... Somehow I don't think it was coincidence......

I have Western Sierra Foothills Bush Chickens. They don't spend the night there they return to the coop at night. However, during the day, the younger and more bantam-y of the flock perch in the branches of a particular bush. Some others have dug out dusting holes beneath the overhanging branches, and they'll trade off throughout the day.

Either that, or I have a Western Sierra Foothills Chicken Bush that just hadn't "fruited" chickens until I moved there.

Those girls have given us 482 eggs to date, since 29 August...... The last 6 this morning.......

I'm trying to find a good picture of the ladies with my "Chicken Hound"....... He used to be a mere Border Collie until the girls arrived........
