Eating Eggs

Why would a broody sitting on eggs eat one here and there? Are they bad and she is getting rid of them? Is she just hungry and won't leave the nest? Or do they just clean up if one breaks or something? I have never done this before so I have no clue what is going on.

i had one but no fretlie eggs under here well i cant help you much man
sounds like she had some bad ones or she started eating eggs before she started to brood
