I adopted 4 EE's a few days ago and the person I bought them from listed them as female ameraucanas. However, I think they are all EE's and this one I can't tell if it's a boy or a girl. I was unfamiliar with pea combs and didn't notice this one was different until I got home. Is it just a chunky rose comb or a sign of a roo? I don't know how old they are, but they look young. When will he start crowing if he is a boy? Help?
Looks like an EE and she is a pullet.
Definitely a girl.
Looks like a pullet to me.
Thank you all for your replies and expertise! Interestingly enough, within 5 mins of posting this question, I found a beautiful pastel green colored egg right next to the chicken in question! Haha! Figures! . Not on,y that, but found another gorgeous green egg in a nesting box a short time later! On,y 2 days after arriving to their new home with me, 2 of the 4 new EE girls gave me pretty eggs.
That's great! Sometimes the stress of moving to a me place can make them take a short break from laying. Lovely EE. What do the others look like? I am thinking my next two will be EE's
She's a beautiful pullet.
I will try to get pics of the other girls as I heard them to the coop for bedtime tonight. 2 of them are a beautiful ashy gray color and the other one looks like the one originally pictured. Need to help them get to the coop at dusk bc we have a skunk that keeps getting in our yard. Hubby and a neighbor shot at it several times today and yet, it lives and continues to show up to bother my chickens. . Fingers crossed we kill it soon. I hate the idea of my chickens and my little dog being in danger.
