I was given two new EE s and we were suspecting that one may be a roo. I have read the hints on how to tell but I just dont know what I am supposed to be looking at. Here are Smelly and Shelly . Smelly is darker and the one in question.

How old? The darker one does look like he might be a male with what looks like sickle feathers and dark shoulders.

That's what I was looking at. Also, his comb/eye area looks a lot brighter than hers

Its confrimed boy he was crowing this morning with my rooster. I dont know how old he is ? But now I must choose between my RIR roo (Bert) who will not come near us, which is good for our kids. But he crows all day, I am talking 50+... or this guy (smelly) who is an EE and temperament unknown and his amt of crowing un known :( oh decisions decisions... any thoughts?

I have BO BPR and EEs hens... and we plan on allowing hens who go broody to raise chicks.
