We recently dressed three of our RIR 3 yr old chickens and my question is one of them had 4 ping pong ball size yolks with no shell and at least 7 other smaller yolks with no shell ...is this normal? Could it be that she was egg bound? She always acted healthy and ate and drank normal. She was fed laying mash and oyster shell and had dried meal worms for treats along with greens from the garden and occasional watermelon rind.

What you saw was the future eggs in the pipeline. Any hen you process, you'll see egg yolks. Perfectly normal.
