Egg bound or internal laying?

I have a hen who I happened to see struggling with what I thought was a poop. She was frozen still for a good two minutes… now we see what looks like a membrane hanging from her vent. She lays large eggs- sometimes a double yolk. I know she laid yesterday, but we haven’t gotten anything from her today. Is this a sign of being egg bound or is it possible that the egg ruptured internally? How should we help her? Do we give her time to try to pass it on her own at this point?

Can you gently try to pull the membrane from her vent? She may have had a broken soft shell egg inside, but it could be just a membrane. How old is she? I would give her a calcium tablet or Tums orally in the back of her throat. Make sure that she is drinking some water.
