Egg bound symptoms - no egg??

My 4 year old golden comet used to lay big eggs - hasnt done for a few months now - so I assumed she was 'retiring' - only got the occasional shell-less egg. Last few days has been off colour - roosting in a nest rather than on a branch & now is 'walking like a duck' - which I believe is the sign of being egg bound. Brought her in last night 'steamed' her rear (as per some youtube remidie) to relax the muscles, then got the gloves on & oil & put an investigative finger up her vent - couldnt feel anything. He tummy is quite hard. She is moving around but painfully. What can it be if there is no egg in the vent???
Her name is Doris & is one of my 1st hens. Any suggestions please??

I am almost certain your hen is suffering from internal laying. Not a good prognosis at all unfortunately

Poor thing.. I think the responsible thing to do at this point is cull, as this affliction is very painful for the hen.

The swollen abdomen is a very classic sign of internal laying.
