My hen doris seems to be acting less active today although she did freerange, eat and drink today. She is still making her funny sounds and is molting. Im not sure if shes egg bound she is bullied alot though and is at the complete bottom of the pecking order or within a few. Her abdomen feels like a bigger chicken belly but not quite how my other hen who was egg bound felt. I gave her alittle calcium incase. What do you think?

    UPDATE:
Doris was sitting in one of the nesting spots my chickens made in the roosting area which some chickens lay eggs in and some just sleep in. She is making all her funny chicken sounds and acting more normal, but it's like she's good but has a bigger belly which might be normal...?

You should separate her for a little while to see if that helps maybe her getting bullied is making her feel down. Also I had a egg bound chicken before but was to late to act on her. I would put her in your sink with warm water and see if that helps. Do that a couple times and put her in a warm area where it is dark.

    Thanks for your response!
I also noticed Doris has something on her comb which looks to me like frostbite with peck marks in it [IMG]

I would bring her maybe into your house or garage with a heater to see if that helps her. Sorry don't know too much about frostbite maybe try researching it to see how to help it.

I just researched briefly and it says frostbite is mostly black which is what I thought it just looks like she has some scaring from being pecked! But I would still bring her inside so she is warmer.

Thanks! That's what I thought too.
She's on the bottom of the pecking order so it's harder for her to get food or water.
