Egg Candling Epiphany

We recently set some eggs in our new incubator

. With a week into it we rigged up a coffee can with a compact fluorescent bulb. I tried different caps to set the egg on; cardboard, metal etc. I found that a piece of black rubber with a small hole cut out works very well. The rubber acts like a gasket sealing the light in. This may be an old trick for some of you but it was a light bulb moment for me....​

Cool idea! And here I was sticking an LED flashlight into an empty toilet paper tube.

Or, I wrap my hand around the end of the flash light to "seal" it against the egg.

Yours is way more high tech!
