My lockdown is Wednesday night. Should I place the babies (eggs) in a carton with bottoms cut out or on shelf liner stuff? I have both and have read people from both camps. What is best? Plus, I think I read something about the height of the egg from the egg turner....
Please help - my last hatch (the first one ever) was so poor - 2 out of 12 set. I am aiming for 7 or so this time. (I think from what I've seen candling.) I am having a hard time getting rid of the ones I think are infertile/aren't developing, since I am new at this......
Also, I missed my 2 babies hatching last time.....I plan on making Friday an all-nighter.

I vote laying the eggs down on some shelf liner

But either way works just fine. I prefer to lay them down. Just what I've done for years, not because of better hatch rates. Both methods work. Good luck with the hatch! Hope it's better for you this time around.

You need to take the turner out & get them on the wire in the bottom of the bator. What you put under them after that really makes no difference. DO NOT leave them in the turner. They can get stuck in it & get hurt or killed.
