Hello all!
I had a hen go broody on me last month and I decided to pull the eggs & put them in the incubator because the last natural hatch I did resulted in a duckling with a broken leg.
The hen is a rouen & the drake is a black swede. I pulled the eggs on 4/12 and my best estimation is she had been sitting on them for a few days.
I've candled them periodically and over the past 2 days I've noticed the only transparent part is the air sack. It doesn't look like they've dipped all the way yet so I'm thinking I'm somewhere between days 21 & 24. I know in the past I've heard them start cheeping at about day 24 or 25 and locked them down. My questions are how many days after egg's transparency is lost is the air sack fully dipped amd what are the dangers of locking down too early/late?
