My Buff Orpington has been having a terrible time with the heat and stopped laying 3 days ago.
Today she said an out in the run (she's never done that before). I cracked open the egg and it was perfect, but it was laying in a puddle of clear albumin like liquid.
Has this happened to anyone else?
I only have 2 hens. I've put up 2 fans and give them fresh water everyday. I have everything covered with shade cloths.
Today she was panting and I put her in a bowl of water to cool her tummy, feet and breast.
My other hen is a Black Australorp and she is doing just fine.

I can't help with the egg question but I give my girls frozen rings(bundt pan) of water and treats. it cools them down to eat it. Another thing I do is wet down the dirt in their run. they love to walk around in the little puddles.
