Hi there,

My hen is a bit younger than 1year old and is a black Austrolorp. It seems she has laid the 'egg' in three stages.
This morning, she laid the white.
Later, she laid the soft eggshell. Then, minutes after, she laid the yellow yolk. Promptly devouring it (repulsive.)

I am just wondering, is there any action I need to take?
This seems to be the second weird egg she has laid (I guess it was her, as the other hens have had no negative events.) A month ago, she laid a shell less egg (white and yolk included like normal) and had no lethargy. Today, she was acting very lethargic and isolated herself.

Please advise if she may be infected and needs more care? She seems to be okay now, and she has great access to water, feed and grit.

Thank you! :)

If your hen is acting normal, that's a good sign. Otherwise, an internal infection may occur and there's not much you can do about it.
Consider adding crushed oyster shell as free choice for all your birds. You can use fine crushed eggshells as well.
You can give your hen vitamin D, it helps with calcium absorption.
