Egg laying problem

One of my chickens has been laying each and every day. Today she has been in the laying box
for now 5 hrs. and has not come out. I opened up the box and she was not happy with me. I have
never seen her take that long to lay and egg. Is there a serious problem?

Did you see an egg in the box? She could be broody.

No, she will not let me look, she gets upset when I lift up the lid to the box.
She usually rosts as night but tonight she stayed in the laying box. What
does brooding mean? Sorry I am fairly new at this.

She won't let you get the egg! Sounds like She's incubating it! I really don't know any advice on how to move the egg either...how long has she been doing this? Make sure you put water and food in front of her tho
