Good morning! I am very new to chicken keeping - this is my first season. One of my hens got a sour crop almost as soon as I received her. I don't know why. I tried all the non-medicated remedies, but her crop kept growing, and she was dripping fluid from her mouth, and having a hard time breathing. She never stopped laying though. Always a great layer.
I finally tried a monostat treatment, and it cleared her right up! I was so impressed! But then she stopped laying...It has been almost 2 weeks. Any ideas? She is eating well, acting normally. Between her lack of production and one hen that has gone broody the production from my little 4 hen flock is quite low.

Its normal for hens to stop laying for a few weeks----she will start back.
