A friend of mine has a few Araucana/Americana. They were laying eggs for a few months. And now that it has gotten colder and not as much daylight they stopped. He was just wondering if there was anything to do to help them get back into egglaying. Thanks.

I'm sure you will find lots of great info on here.

Chickens need 14 hours of light a day to lay good. Tell your friend he can add some light to his coop to get them back on track !!

An easy way to do this is to get one of those light timers (walmart has them), have it come on in the morning before it gets light and off at night after it gets dark. Make sure he doesnt keep the light on 24/7 as this can cause problems in the flock.

After he does this he should see an improvement in a week to 2 weeks. Good luck and hope this helps.
