I have 7 chickens. 3 orpingtons, a sussex, a cuckoo maran, a rhode island red, and an easter egger. All are approximately 22 weeks and most of them seem to be mature or close to maturity. Yesterday, two of them laid for the first time. I am not sure which ones did because I have heard a lot of mixed information on what age certain breeds lay. Any thoughts based on the information I gave and the colors of the eggs?

Well from what is seems, those are definitely either orpington or sussex. They look a bit more like sussex because they are a bit more white, but because it's the first time, the colors may variate a little.

My RIR lays very round eggs, a bit like the one on the right you are showing. I'm not sure that's a breed trait though. If you only have two that are squatting would help narrow it down too, if they are all squatting then I've seen others post where you can check their vent to see if they are laying by how it looks.

Congrats on your first eggs!
