Is there a term describing this art form? I am interested in doing some research on it but not sure what to look under. I know we have a few here that do it so any help would be appricated.

As far as painting goes, I don't believe there is a specific name for it.
There are the Ukrainian easter eggs called Pysanky (single egg - pysanka). They dye eggs several colors, using wax to draw designs. The dye doesn't bother the waxed areas, and when it is melted off, it leaves the pictures. They do that in a lot of layers to make some pretty elaborate eggs!

I'll be trying this sometime next year.
There's also the fancy Faberge-style eggs. Those are the ones that a lot of people make into trinket boxes or carve designs into. You can paint them or decorate them however, but most have beads and jewels on them. Very pretty eggs!

If you had to pick a category to put handpainted eggs under, it'd probably be closer to Faberge.

Thanks Mary I did know about those and it is not what I am after. Since neither are the painting one being wax the other metals. Guess I shall keep looking.
