I have two older hens -about 2 1/2 yrs old mixed breeds, and 3 pullets 25 or 26 weeks old buff orps. the pullets started laying last week so getting small eggs from them but not really small maybe average 1.5 oz. The 2 older girls got heat stress this past June and quit laying, now one of them is red in the comb and wattles and she squats. The buffs lay pale tan colored eggs and the older ones used to lay light to medium colored so today I found a small egg- havent weighed it but maybe 1 1/2 oz and it was a little darker than the buffs eggs so... my question is if the old girls quit laying for 5 months and then start up again will their eggs be smaller at first or would they be large/xlarge like they used to be?? anyone know or have any ideas? thanks
