Egg Squat

I got my first egg squat this morning. It was so CUTE! My little girl asked, "Mommy, is that chicken pooping"? Our girls are just shy of 20 weeks. Their combs and waddles are getting very red and they are getting noisy. I think we're getting closer!! I'll be stalking the nesting boxes for sure now.

Yep, you're close! This is when time drags and drags and drags. You'll give up looking 15 times a day, and then whammo, you'll have an egg!

A number of my girls started squatting 2 weeks ago, and a few days later we got our first egg! I have 42 birds, so we got 4 eggs on Wednesday, 5 eggs Thursday. It is so exciting! A number of the girls who didn't like to be pet now squat and want me to pet them. I gave away my first carton of eggs this morning.
