Eggbound?

I have a hen who has been sitting on the nest quite a while today. I have been out twice over a couple of hour period and she was still there. Just went out again and just as I opened the door to check for eggs, she partially stood up and laid an egg (she was in an awkward position though while laying it....standing up very tall and seeming to strain a lot), I reached in to get the egg and she jumped off the nest. When I picked up the egg, I realized it had some blood on it. She immediately got back into the nest and turned around with her back to me and I noticed that it looks like either another egg or something coming out. She was straining trying to push it out. Could it be an egg? If I can I will get a pic to upload. Any help appreciated.

Maybe you should post on the "emergencies/problems" thread. I haven't had any experiance with something like that but others who have had chickens longer might be able to help. Pictures are very helpful.
