I am looking for courtnix eggs. The prices seem outrageous. I got some with my incubator last year and they came free. Seems like the hatch rate is 50% which seems really bad.

Can someone point me to a reasonable place? Looking for 60 to 90 eggs. After that I will keep some some for layers and breeding and food.
And what are people selling quail eggs for, for food? Like chicken eggs.

I am in Wisconsin if it makes a difference.

either jumbos or courtnix or A&M's or mix.

but would like some layers as have a large community looking for quail eggs to eat. Could easily sell 10 dzn a week with the weather.

I am taking orders for later this month/next month, mine always seem to get good hatch rates. (If you need them heat treated, you can improve the odds, also. [IMG] )

General info that really isn't that helpful: (http://journals.cambridge.org/actio...D2D09B2CB3.tomcat1?fromPage=online&aid=618820)

Where I learned the basics (http://www.worldpoultry.net/chicken...fore-storage-increases-hatchability-6505.html) and I changed them (after testing them) to fit my needs

    Interesting quail reference (http://www.pjbs.org/ijps/fin1108.pdf)

    Influence on hatched chicks: (http://ps.fass.org/cgi/content/abstract/89/6/1225)

    Other reference: (http://www.jstor.org/pss/30158488)

I've tested it myself and talked with other people who do this, along with some embryology experiments I've seen.

There is NO positive proof that this helps in shipped eggs.... If they are run through the x-ray, they are pretty much done for..

Also, There has been studies upon studies done on this subject. If it was of great use, I'd think the bigger suppliers of hatching eggs would be going to it.. I know of a few schools that have done them with no gain on hatching %'s and after storage for 3-5 days, the % went down by 25%...

Fresh eggs from healthy birds fed a good diet is the answer to my hatching needs..
