Eggs are here :)Paganbirds and MagsC's hatching thread!!UpdateMarch16!

I just checked the incubator and one of the salmon faverolle cross eggs I got from Cloverleaf is pipping!!

Sad update. The one that pipped, died. I am not sure why.

So far, no more pips in this incubator which is quite disappointing because both I and my daughter were really waiting on this hatch because of the interesting breeds and crosses.
This particular hatch hasnt gone the best. But I accept that when I hatch eggs. Shipped CAN be tough (though I have had some great hatches too) and I am not infalible (sp?) either.
I know I monitored and watched this one as closely as I have any of the others so I tried.

Oh, I dont want to get my hopes up!

But I heard peeping coming from the incubator. Since they arent actually due until tomorrow, I am just going to have to sit on my hands, wait and see. Maybe we will still get something.

The white quail are light yellow chicks with bright orange legs. I may have sent you a couple of white eggs the first time, but when I shipped out yesterday, they were from the wild type & cinnamon pairs. I also have a blueface/silver pair, but I don't think the hen is laying. It's very sporadic.
I'm wishing you luck on your Cloverleaf hatch.
I set all 5 of my Cloverleaf SF eggs into lockdown today. They are due on Saturday.
I candled my MF cochins & all 13 show movement!
Of my mixed batch from chickenzoo, I think I have all but 2. Some of the eggs are pretty dark. Two were definite clears, but the others I left in since I wasn't sure. One of the BLRW looked like it might be clear, but I'm hoping I am wrong... it's still in there.

All of my CrescentWood eggs are developing. I'm hoping for some nice quality silkies from this set. I may be getting some smooth-feathered chicks, though, since I put that blue polish in there. I know for sure that he's contributing to the gene pool.
Has anyone hatches out any blue or black silkies from me? The first couple months I sent out eggs, I had my blue silkie rooster and my black sizzle together. Just curious.

Thanks Paganbird, the silkie/sizzle eggs I got from you are in there as well as silkie eggs from another BYC member. So if this goes badly, I will have to buy some more silkie/sizzle eggs from you, contact Cloverleaf about more salmon faverolle cross eggs and see if I can find silkie eggs priced reasonably.Sigh.

The four button quail are doing wonderfully, as are the ducklings and chicks so I have to look on the bright side!

In my last hatch from you, I hatched out a bluish grey silkie cross.(Dont know if that is what you were wondering about?)
Polish!!! One day I am going to get some of those rock star chickens, lol.

That should be a pure blue silkie, then. If it's frizzled, it would be a cross, but all the roosters in there at that time were pure silkies, so it should be a pure blue silkie.

Mags, maybe next year you can try a Rock Star mix from me with Spitzhauben, Brabanter and Polish? I have two different Polish varieties on order: Buff Laced and White Laced Blues. Will that be cool or what?

That WOULD be cool!!!

Ooo...Spitzhaubens, Brabanters, Polish....
