eggs are taking off like wild fire. I've had to turn people away

I posted an ad on free cycle looking for egg cartons, in return when I went to pick up the eggs I brought the person a "free" dozen.

well everyone have asked me if I sell the eggs...well yes I do!

so now I am getting e-mails from people who know these people who responded to my freecycle ad and I have people wanting 5 - 6 doz a week

my poor hens cant keep up I have had to turn people away I feel like the supermarket and limit one per person please...lol

our local food inspection agency went into our local farmers market a few weeks ago and shut down the eggs and the meat sellers because their products were not inspected.

one of the beef farmers had went and gotten himself "certified" he had to close shop cause of all the paperwork he had to hire 2 extra staff just to do all the paperwork so it was no longer financially smart to be a certified "private seller"

, I too have had to turn folks down. I take eggs to the ladies at the local library and other folks inside will say "oh you sell eggs". I reply "yes, but if you want any you will have to speak with one of the ladies here to see if you may purchase some".

, they said they want all I have, so I bring em' and they buy them all. It is usually just three cartons a week so

, I let them figure it out.

hehe! That happened to me too! Posted on Freecycle looking for cartons and landed myself my first egg customer! I've only got 3 laying girls though!

Bought 2 more pullets so I can support my own family and my egg customers family!

I'm in the middle of the burbs so I can't have many girls.

I just set up a barter on CL to get canning jars for my eggs. I'm getting 5 doz jars, she's getting 7 doz eggs over the next couple of months, and we're both happy.

Now if only my pullets would start laying!!! My 2 laying hens can't keep up, despite the 2 eggs we're getting daily!

I am thinking i should have made my prices a little higher right now I am at par with the grocery store
