From south west iowa, i have 18 rir hens and have been getting eggs all winter so far has anyone else seen this?? Many i have talked with has chickens that have stopped all together, just wondering. My cochens and old english have barley started up.

Chickens "generally" slow down or stop laying during the early winter when daylight hours are short.
I have RIR's that are still laying. They did, however, take a break in November.
I used to live in Iowa (suburb of Des Moines). Loved it there!

Welcome to BYC!
Two of mine have been laying steadily, about 5 eggs per week each. The third was going at the same pace until the start of January, and then after laying 3 days in a row she came to a sudden stop. I guess that's how it goes, she decided to take a winter break.
