one of our chicken laying habit changed a little bit under a month ago.

we first noticed her egg in the bedroom in the early morning, and found another egg during the day. it happened a few times, so we always checked the bedroom everyday to make sure we did not miss any egg she could've laid outside of laying box.

this morning it happened again. we checked last night before dark, around 7.30 but the girls are already in the bedroom. there was no egg, and found one in the morning. just now she laid another egg in the laying box (around 11am).

we thought she lays egg during night, and one during the day, and then takes 1 day off;

or she could lay 2 eggs a day, and take the next day off.

does anyone have similar experience? is she sick?

I forgot the mention, we got a few odd shaped eggs since then, e.g. 2 i got this morning are like kidney shaped and one with a ring patchy shell.

she also laid a few times in the run instead. but we thought it was the extreme hot weather that hit her.

we did our internal and external parasites treatment just over 1 month ago as a prevention.

Yeah, one of my red-sex-link girls has been laying ringed eggs too.
I assumed it's just because the laying has slowed down with winter. None of my other girls are laying at all.

When you say 'bedroom' do you mean the coop?

If it's really hot there, that can cause stress which can cause funky eggs.
As long as she otherwise healthy, it's probably not disease.
Not sure what you used to treat as a 'preventative' and whether that might cause issues or not.

Yes, It's the coop with a perch. The weather was quite extreme, it was nearly 38degree for a week and finally cooled down with some heavy rains, now it's over 30degree again.

We used some pills the breeder gave us, we also used DE to give them a rub.

What are the pills?
Water and deep shade is the most important when its hot....damp, diggable soil in the deep shade can help cool them down.
DE isn't going to do anything.

it is

they dont seem to have problem with it last 2 times i give them.

we have the "damp, diggable soil in the deep shade", 2/3 of the chicken run are under a leafy tree, and the water is also nearby.

btw, we got up quite early this morning to find another egg in the coop, now she is in the laying box again for her second one within 12 hours?!
