My run is closed in with 6 foot chicken wire. 1 foot flat on the ground outside and 5 feet as a fence with wood posts. I am going to run electric wires on the outside of the fence. I want to use the chicken wire as the ground and connect the ground from the charger to the fence. Will this work. Should I put in ground rods also. The instructions I have read say the ground must be 50 feet from a buried water line. Since a water line runs under my coop I would have to have the ground 50 feet from the charger. I know there are a lot of experts here I would like your opinions.

Set it up and test ad varying locations with fence charge reader. If you can get good zap around entire perimeter it should work. Make certain you have a good contact zone for ground line and chicken wire.
