Hi. We bought a Premier solar electric fence. We keep it on all day. We lost our last flock to weasels, mink and I'm not going to let that happen again. We also have fox that come in the middle of the day so its important they stay safe. Occasionally a hen gets zapped and they all run in the coup terrified. Have you found they get the hint and stay away from the fence or do their brains not remember and will they continue to get zapped?
Have you found that this effects they're egg laying ability? Our flock of 10 are nine weeks old.
Im tempted to turn it off during the day while I'm out but that would mean we wouldn't be consistent and the hens wouldn't be trained to know when its on or off. Its a hundred foot fence, so plenty of room to run for them. Thank you.

Leave it on.....each shock an animal gets (birds or varmints) is a training session. They all quickly learn it's a boundary they do not want to cross or test.
