I have six hatching eggs that I've been incubating for about 9 days now and this is my first time hatching anything. I've seen clear movement in about four of them, two others not so much. One of them I'm not concerned about, it started developing later than the rest and is doing fine I can see blood vessels and growth. The other is on track with the others growth wise but I'm yet to see it move. I'm wondering if it's not moving means that somethings wrong. Other than being still when I candle it, it's been doing fine, I can clearly see it's blood vessels and it gets bigger every time I check it. The eggs are brown so it's hard to see but I can see the others moving with ease but this one there's nothing. Does that mean it's dead? Is moving important for it surviving to hatch? Thanks for any help!

Lack of movement does not mean death! Good veining and growth of the embryo is what you look for. When I candle some chicks move a lot in the egg; others do not. In fact, more start moving after the week and a half of incubation.

Ditto the above. I've candled loads of eggs and sometimes I saw movement, often I did not. If the veins look good and the embryo is growing it's all good [IMG] Good luck with your hatch!

Thank you for clearing that up for me, I've already lost four eggs from this clutch I'd be bummed out if I lost anymore. Figures crossed! [IMG] Thanks again!
