I just went out to see what all the fuss was about and 1 of my 5 week old chicks was missing (pulled through the chicken wire) and my baby roo had its guts on display, we humanely put it to rest - RIP - Pubert. Then I noticed this one. It looks like it's had most all of its wing ripped off, but there is a little bit of bone and some tendon hanging and some flesh around the bone. You can see that it's an open fracture of the bone and I'm wondering if there is any hope? I know that a wond like this doesn't heal very well, if at all...I'm keeping her warm through he night, just wondering if it's a lost cause. Please give any advice. I've never lost any chickens before, let alone 2, possibly 3, in one night.

Actually, chickens heal surprisingly well, although a lot of people would probably cull the bird. If you wish, you can snip the wing the rest of the way off -- if this will leave enough tissue to heal over the edge of the bone, and if the edge of the bone is not too sharp to cut through healing tissue. You would probably have to dress the wound. If the wing is nearly off, it's probably not a good idea to try to splint it back on.

Here is a lot of information on injuries:

Sadly she didn't make it :( It was pretty bad. We're so sad around here. We lost 3 chicks to that darn owl.
