Okay! So out of 30 call duck eggs, this is the only one still alive. My last batch hatched three, with many fully developed in the air sacs. I read somewhere that you could help your eggs hatch by making a little breathing hole so this egg wouldn't suffocate like the others. I made the little hole yesterday ( the day after it was due) and put it back in the incubator until this morning. I took it back out and into the bathroom, made the bathroom as humid as I could and started chipping away at the shell so I could see what was going on. The baby was still alive, but shrink wrapped. So I made a little tiny tiny hole in the membrane, wet the membrane, then wrapped it in a wet paper towel and put it back in the incubator. The baby still moves occasionally. But now the membrane looks almost as if it's inflated... Like its replacing where the shell was. WHAT DO I DOOO?!!! It was due Sunday to hatch!! Day 28!! It still looks as though there is a lot of yellow inside the membrain so I feel like it shouldn't come out yet but I don't know what to do! Is it going to die because of the hole in the air sac?? This is my first time hatching eggs and I know I probably shouldn't have helped it but I was impatient and scared. Please please please help.

Get it out of the shell... Your humidity during incubation was likely to high so the ducklings were to big to get out on their own so you need to help .

Take it out of the entire shell?? What about the veins? And the yellow stuff underneath the duck? Is that all okay?
    And thank you for answering!!

Vein's ? from your first post I gathered they are over due? if it is over due open the large end of the shell if not over due then wit and see. if there are still veins it is not ready to hatch yet

That's why I'm worried, it is over due. It's on day 29. I opened the large end of the shell and I see veins still on the membrane skin thing, and yellow underneath the duck.

Just take off the air cell part of the egg and see if it has veins left to absorb. If not, then help its head out and it will come it of the shell when ready.

Just saw y our last post... Give it time to absorb the veins, wrap it in damp paper towels to stay moist. When veins are mostly gone then follow previous advice : )
