I have a 3 week old Pekin and my two younger siblings were putting them in the bathtub to wash them off and they made the water too hot, causing his webbing to burn. We took him out and but him in some cold water and dried him off and we've been watching him since. We put him and our other duck in their "home" on a towel so his webbing wouldn't get irritated from the bedding we have for them. I just went to check on them and the one duck who isn't injured is stilling tuning around and walking but the other is just laying there and he's panting and you can see his heart beating very fast. Is that okay???

Please post on the "emergencies, diseases, injuries, cures," thread. the hot then cold may have put him into shock. Ducks do not need a bath and maybe he was too young to be put in water. You can also post on the "duck thread." Just put that in the search box above and it will come up for you. Hope he will recover.

G’Day from down under duckkkiiee [IMG] Welcome!

Aaaw, poor little duckie! I hope the folks on the Duck Forum were able to help and that he makes a full recovery.

I also hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your ducks, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out [IMG]
