Just got started in Penedesenca and love them. Looking for others working with them - particularly in the southeast near Greer, South Carolina or near South Bend, Indiana (hometown.)

I have an interesting developement... I ordered marans eggs and when they came they were very small... super dark... The color was the best I have had in Marans eggs... They are adults now and appear to be Penedesenca..... White earlobes and very flighty...not at all marans looking... What do you make of that??? So I guess I am a Pene breeder now also

I tried to hatch some partridge penes, but all eggs were so badly damaged 1/2 of them exploded, and the rest never hatched. [IMG]

I guess it was a mixed blessing. I didn't find out until after I bought the eggs that they are flighty. I'd rather have a more easy-going flock.

They are definitely a good egg colour breed, I especially love the colour of the Crele coloured hens.
