All Other Breeds . . . my Easter Egger, Roni. She's about a week into her molt.
None of my chickens have started to molt yet, accept for my barred rock rooster, but he's only molting his neck and tail feathers, he's not really ugly so I don't think he'll have a good chance of winning, I guess I'll jus have to wait some more until others molt! Love all of the beautiful molting pics. everyone!
At every one of these pictures, I find myself thinking, "oh, that poor bird", lol.
Here's another one of my girls, Sparrow. These were taken last week:
I love how their new feathers resemble paint brushes for the first few days! They always look so pretty and fresh after going through a molt. I always forget that they also go into "seclusion" for the last 2 serious weeks of their molt! Several of my ducks are doing this feather thing right now, too, lol. I will try and get a picture of them...
Here is Annie, one of my Muscovy girls. Duck molts look a lot less bad than chicken molts! lol!
Thanks for sharing your duck molt photo...I don't believe I've seen a duck molting before!
She looks mad, like someone caught her at 7 am running out to get cigarettes in her slippers and bed head hahahah
I thought she was sick ! I'm new to chicken life lol
Pictures are great, everyone!
My hens are molting but so lightly it's not even worth posting.
I had a pigeon who's in mid-molt, but I just got rid of her
