what is wrong w/ my hen’s left rear toe? she had bumblefoot in the right foot & i removed the bumble, bandaged it & it’s healing well. she is not lame, was never lame, is walking & roosting, eating. i just noticed a few days ago she was staying in the coop not socializing outside like she usually does so inspected her & found the bumble. while treating the right bumble foot, i noticed her left rear toe is enlarged (see pics).

i couldn’t find a bumble or wound, it doesn’t seem tender. no redness or kernal. i’m not sure what to do...?

Her whole left foot and ankle appear swollen. Mycoplasma synovitis, gout, and past frostbite can cause swelling of a foot and ankle. Also it could be swollen from a sprain. When the right foot is not bandaged, does the ankle appear swollen?

no, right ankle is fine, just the bumble which i removed. she is doing better after bumble removal, is walking w/ no limp (has never limped) & is being more sociable. i soaked both feet last night, i guess i’ll keep doing that...?
