    Hi
One of my chickens has an enlarged rear, sagging down, quite a big lump. She sits quietly a lot or stands and puffs up her chest. She is 2 1/2, but hasn't laid an egg for probably 9 months or so. She eats and drinks okay, but not perky. Does anyone know what this is and treatment?
    Thanks,
    Linda

Welcome to BYC. A picture would help. There could be a reproductive disorder such as internal laying, egg yolk peritonitis, ascites, or possibly a tumor there. This can happen commonly in chickens that age, and is common in chickens who have had eggs that were thin shelled or have broke inside. Is she overweight, normal, or underweight?
