Enough room??

Hey everyone! New Hen and Silkie mom here. Lol. Just put our new coop together that says on the box, 'up to 4 hens.' Well, we have that but it only has 2 egg laying spots inside! Do the hens share? I'm not sure what to do, maybe add on??!!! Thanks!!

A good ratio of nest boxes to hens is 1 box per 4 hens. Most hens will pick a favorite box to lay in. They usually all pick the same box. And when they say 'up to 4 hens', they mean bantam hens.

I think i read that one box per three hens is max, but one to two ratio makes better sense

I have eight large fowl hens, four nestbox's. They mainly use just one, sometimes I find a egg or two in the next box, probably when their favorite box is occupied lol. They have never laid in the other two boxes.
