entertainment for chickens

We have 7 week old chickens. What can we put in pen to play with. Do chickens get bored? Also on grit, when do you start giving. They are on dirt. If yes to grit do you put with food, ground or a different container. Thank you

For play: tree branch perches at varying levels in the run, hanging flock block or cabbages, some straw sprinkled with a small amount of scratch - as you can see there are many ways using their desire to search for food. I have always used a separate container for grit.
