It's another hot day here in the Steamy Southeast. I've mentioned on several threads that my chickens dig in to the ground in search of cooler layers and spend the hot part of the day there. Here are some photos.
The Ladies claim the best spot, of course. But they got up when I approached, hoping that I'd have weeds or other treats. (I don't give treats in the hot parts of the day because I don't want them moving around and spending energy instead of staying cool).
Still, you can see their holes.
The babies don't have quite as good a location but they're dug in quite nicely.
Yes, they're panting a little, but they'll be fine. As the sun moves around they'll shift to stay in the shade.
