I was wondering how many of you have had a broody hen who tried to hatch unfertilized eggs die, and what day into the brooding process did she die?

Or have you heard of others who have had this happen?

    Thanks in advance,

    Clare

Also, is a young broody hen just as likely to die as an older one?

I've not had any broodies die while brooding eggs unless they were hiding in the woods/weeds and something ate them.

I'm glad to hear that. Sorry about the ones that got eaten.
