    Hi everyone!

I'm joining this community as I'm about to start raising my own chickens for eggs! I'm moving to a house which has an already built coop, so I'm putting it to use. I wanted to join because I'm compiling some information to refer to as I begin this adventure. Just know that while I have been doing research, I have no real-life experience yet and definitely have a lot to learn.

A little about me: I'm 20 years old, born and raised in Western Washington. Not right in the Seattle area but very close. I go to college, studying to become a Nuclear Medicine Technologist. I currently have 2 indoor cats (they will NOT be around any future chickens!).

I have a yard for the first time since I was a young child, and I'm really eager to begin this process. I'll need to build a designated fenced in area for my chickens, as my yard is not totally fenced and I'm not really interested in allowing the chickens to rip up my entire yard anyway. I will be working with my city's rules when it comes to keeping chickens so I'll only be having three egg layers.

Anyway, I look forward to meeting some of you more experienced owners, hopefully some of you can grace me with some tips and advice. [IMG]

Hi and [IMG] - glad that you have joined us.

The Learning Centre is a great resource, even for experienced chicken keepers - loads of info on anything chicken. https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

Joining your state thread will also put you in contact with other BYC members in your area.

The members here are amazing - very friendly and helpful, so if you need an answer to a question or simply want some reassurance that what you are doing is ok, then post away - we all help each other out here at BYC.

    All the best
