Merry Christmas !!! My hen has a eye infection, what can I use from a drugstore to help? With it being Christmas nothing else is open, it has swollen almost shut over night and a clear liquid is draining. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Are there other signs of a respiratory disease, such as sneezing, nasal drainage, wheezing, or labored breathing? Clean the eye with saline or water and clean tissue or cotton. Warm wet compresses are good for removing eye crust, If you have bacitrain or plain neosporin ointment you can put a small amount in her eye twice daily. Terramycin eye ointment may be available from your feed store, but antibiotics have mostly been taken off shelves recently. Look for any specks of dirt, or pus in the eye. If you see signs of a respiratory disease, she could have mycoplasma (MG,) and Tylan 50 injectable, which can be given orally as well as by injection, can be used to treat symptoms. Dosage is 0.2 ml per pound, given orally twice a day for up to 5 days.

Any type of eye wash solution will be okay.....Possibly some debris in her eye?

Hope it is not something more serious......?

    Try that....

    Cheers!
