Eye issue since 3rd day, now a month old

Hi everyone! I have a chick whos had a leaky eye since he was a few days old. It started just leaking a fluid and that’s it. Then it got red and swollen. And very crusty. I did treat with colloidal silver and it came back. What else can I use for him? He is eating and drinking normally, the others do not peck at it as he is clearly the roo of the group and keeps the other babies in check. Normal poop, the incubation was hatched at the same temp of 99.7 the whole time, with 40% humidity upped to 60 for lockdown. I had him on paper towels until day r to make sure he knew the food. Food is medicated. Thanks!

his left eye is fine

his right eye is the culprit, the crust almost seems like it’s the cells of his eye lid becuase it’s like in his eyelid, not eye. But everything else is his eye. The eyelid is also squishy and deformed.

I think he can see, but he can’t blink the lid, just the inner eyelid.

There could be something under the eyelid causing what you're seeing, maybe debris of some sort. Try liberally flushing his eye with saline solution using an eyedropper, pat dry, then add a tiny dab of Terramycin eye ointment. Use Neosporin ointment if you dont have the Terramycin eye ointment.

Should I put the ointment ove his actual eye or judt the lid? And thank you so much! I have been trying to flush it but he doesn’t sit still.

You can gently swaddle the chick in a towel to help keep control of him while your flushing the eye.

He was very calm, and his eye lid is a little red still, but swelling is Combe and he can close it shein and no more goop! Thank you guys so much @Wyorp Rock @dawg53 ! Joker says thanks as well!

Thanks! He was being s bit of a homicidal maniac and kicking thr eggs everywhere when he hatched so it was perfect

Continue with a tiny bit of antibiotic ointment in the eye as needed until there's no more redness in the eye. Good job!
