My poor Fiddle, who is almost a week old has a very swollen eye. It seems to have maybe a small amount of liquid seeping out of it. Clear liquid. I noticed it after I got home from being gone all day.
I put a warm tea bag compress on it and did this a couple of times. He tried to open it, but can't keep it open due to the swelling. I can't see anything in it like shavings or food.
Do you think it is just an infection? I have myself worried it's a tumor or something worse due to the swelling.

I hope my pics are clear enough.

Any advice would be wonderful.

OH, goodness - poor thing! Is it possible someone may have pecked at his eye? I'd separate, or put a barrier between him and the others so he doesn't get picked on. You could try Terramycin opthalmic ointment - available at most local farm stores. He looks like it's painful for him, poor thing! Good luck!

I think it is painful for him. He was in his brooder crying and crying. My dd (who knows to check them when they carry on) noticed his eye was shut. He is in my lap now just laying there.
I may have to take a ride to the feel store soon.

:thumbsupAwe. If you catch them soon enough (assuming it's from a well-placed peck or a poke from something in the brooder), I think the Terramycin ointment works really well and heals them up in short order. Good thing DD saw it when she did!

I just called my feed store and they have it.
Looks like I will be taking a trip to town again today.
I hope it clears it up for him.
