Fake egg or nest egg - how long to keep it?

How long should I keep the nest egg (the fake egg) in the nest after they start laying?

Until one of your hens goes broody and tries to hatch it.

After all of them know where to lay you dont need it.

thanks - I'm only on egg number 7 as of today with the girls at 22.5 weeks old. I have two nests- 5 eggs were laid in one and 2 in the other. Both nests have faux eggs in them so I wondered if I should remove or not- thanks for the advice. I'll leave them until they go broody or all are laying. If I am lucky enough to get a broody- I will have to order some fertile eggs since I am in the city and
roosterless

but that would be a fun project.

I keep one golf ball in all of the nests.... been that way for over a year.
